Hi guys. been real busy around here, finally caught up enough to give myself some breathing room between knife builds.
I just started on a project for a client and thought i'd share a bit. The order consists of 3 knives for her husband who is an avid hunter/ outdoorsman. First is a 8.5" oal drop point hunter, second is an 8" oal beaver tail skinner, third is a 7" oal skinner pattern that I seem to make alot. All 3 are made from Alabama Damascus random pattern steel. they will have stabilized birdseye redwood handles with blue G10 liners and brass pins/tube.

Here's yesterday's progress. I got all 3 profiled and the first 2 have the bevels ground.

Thanks Steve, I'm pleased with things so far, altho the beaver tail skinner isn't my favroite profile. It's always exciting when a project starts to take shape.

If I'm not mistaken I'm pretty sure I've seen one of your knives on Canadian knifemakers supply website?

yupp, There is a picture of my Blue Bowie on Rob's site. That was one of those knives that you just hate to let go of. I had a hard time sending that one off to it's owner.

Got in a couple more hours work on the trio today. started by re profiling the butt of the beavertail skinner to more closely match the hunter. Then I ground the bevels on the smaller skinner. once I was happy with that I took all 3 up to a 400grit belt finish. just need to locate and drill/countersink for pins/tubes and they will be off to HT hopefully tomorrow.

spent the week cleaning up and sanding out these three knives. Got them etched yesterday and today I attached the liners and scales on the bigger two. I have an Idea for the smaller one that I'm waiting for a go ahead from the client on so will wait to start that one until I hear back. grabbed a quick scan of them after the first round of etching. thanks. they look even better after more etching and a light buff. I couldn't find the old tooth brush I usually use so I tried a Mr. Clean Magic eraser to clean them up between etches. It actually worked really good.

Well I couldn't wait till tomorrow, so I went out and shaped the scales and sanded one up to 800 grit. The client specified that she didn't want shiny handles so will most likely stay at 800. just a quick cellphone pic.[IMG]
