Bow deer season starts soon here so I'm going to be in the bush as well. Good hunting, hope your successful.

 

Good luck Rob!! I was out on opening day for deer to my buddy's hunting grounds for the first time bow hunting. We quickly realized they are clear cutting the mountain on the other side of the road. Not a deer to be had...gripes

 

home early.............freezer is full of elk meat ......time to design something for Ragnar Lothbrok's wife !!!

What I want to know is what knife you used to process the elk?

did Viking's have Nicholson files at there disposal ?? hahahaha !! oh well that's the modern technology I'll be using...the rest will be by hand hammer and fire !!

Nice. I'm doing something similar. But I drew out the tang. Further and shaped it like a broken back seax. I'll get some pics up to show progress soon. I like it, can't wait to see more.

All my free time has gone to my dad. He's getting his new to him international scout ready for elk season. So far we have changed the front and rear diffs, rebuilt the engine and put new springs in it. Lots of work left to do in the next couple weeks.

 

..........little change in plans........x-nayed the full tang and goin with a stick and a d-guard (remember this is my first forge attempt so take it easy on me)
this is a solid wrought chunk of steel for the guard comes complete with pitting and extreme wear marks, something maybe a viking would have..........I'm actually really happy with the tang fit at this point it aint going to be show piece with all the bling but I think its going to be pretty cool, any suggestions on handle material ? something raw !!! no mosaic pins and fancy 2013 materials here, thanks for looking guys
