Very nice indeed, Dan! And you're way ahead of schedule. I'm still struggling with that stupid Scandi grind. Tried making a jig like the one you used, but I just don't have the dexterity to pull off an even grind on both sides. Very frustrating. My Scandi grind is turning into a full flat grind.

Thanks Jim. It's looking like it's going to polish up sweet. Hopefully the recipient will find it useful. I'm kind of plonking away at it when I get some time. I am building a 3/4 hp 12" disc grinder right now, so never a dull moment.

A continuation of the process. I masked and etched the steel type in the belly of the tang.

I applied a few coats of tung oil and buffed on the cotton buffing wheel.

    This is what someone gets.

    Now on to the sheath.

Fold-over sheath done. Tried for a Tobacco Sunburst. (not sure if you are into guitars). Stitching is with Tandy's 11210-02 - Waxed Braided Cord Brown.

For my 4th sheath I think I am getting better. It fits really well to the knife. It still needs a bath in neatsfoot.
Almost done this KITH. Just the fire starter stick and lanyards to do and we're done.

Very nice indeed! That two-tone colouring and leather working pattern are great! It's a nice package, Dan.

Dan what did you end up using for a finish? Danish oil or tung oil or maybe superglue?

I used tung oil, let it dry and buff. Repeated five or six times or so. That's all the future owner should need to do, oil it occasionally for maintenance.
