How's everyone doing with their bushcraft knife projects?
I am waiting for some supplies and starting the sheath in the next week or so.

I'm struggling with that stupid Scandi grind. It's driving me crazy and it's costing me some good stainless steel. I'll eventually get some pictures posted, but I'm hoping I can make my efforts look a little less ugly than they have been so far. Good learning experience - I've learned that Scandi grinds are beyond my ability at this time. No more Scandi grinds for me after this one.

My progress is slow. I wish a day would be 30 hours, not stupid 24...

    ROMHATT-Jim,

The grind doesn't have to be a Scandi. Whatever you come up with is good.

I must say, I had some difficulty with that grind as well. I finally said "let it be.. it is a bush knife" and stopped at 120 grit.

Making mistakes (non-lethal ones) is the fastest way to learn and that time spent doing something new on the grinder adds to your skills. I have a terrific amount of respect for someone who can pull off a perfect grind in a few minutes. They remind us of what we can achieve with practice. One suggestion I have is use a fresh belt when you are finishing the grind. I use an old belt to knock the sharp angles off, then a fresh one to finish the bevel.

Roman, you have lots of time mate. ;-)

Good luck guys. It would be great to see how you are getting along.

Just checking in. Wondering how everyone is doing.

I received my ferro rods in the mail and will start on the sheath.

    Good luck to you all!

Unfortunately I haven't even though about knives in over a week because I blew a brake line and since I was at it I figured I'd do my ball joints, tie rods, fluids and other things with my truck that I've been putting off. If my front axle decides to cooperate I may be able to finish up tonight. A few days ago I came out of the garage covered in all kinds of automotive goo and I told my wife that I'd rather be making knives. Lol.

Sent my blade off for heat treating last week, so I'm way behind schedule. Hope you guys don't mind if I'm a little late finishing mine. Life just got in the way of knifemaking this time around.

    Ya Dan. Same here.

Jim. You are ahead of me but there is still quite a bit of time left. I'm hoping next week I can really get moving on my kith along with many other knives.
