Interesting design Icho, is it actually legal to have a double edged knife in Canada? I was trying to figure out the knife laws here in Sk but.... Lets just say there is a LOT if grey area...

I don't think double edged knives are illegal in Canada. I've seen lots of them for sale at gunshows.
That's the Canadian legal system in a nutshell

Double edged knives are good to go in sask at least, and I am sure all of Canada. I recently had a sit down with the local police sergeant to chat about knives. He had a few confiscated knives to ask me about as far as if they were garbabe or valuable, and I had a few questions about legalities. As you said Canadian law is horribly vague on many things and this can be one of them. Push daggers or push knives are illegal. Knives with a finger guard that can act as brass knuckles are illegal, but I never got an answer fully about the verdict on something like a D guard Bowie. As far as autos and as assisteds go, the law stated that any knife that was opened by a button, lever or switch attached to the handle is illegal. They said the kershaw assisted knives are a bit of a grey area again. Ballisongs and any type of gravity knife is illegal. You have to be careful because an axis lock with the pivot loosened can be classed as a gravity knife. I think in reality most of this is based on the image more than the actual function. A balli is just a folder and no quicker to deploy than a good knife with thumb studs or a spider hole, and far slower than a knife with wave opening.

At a gun show the guys who ran it got after a guy who had a knuckle knife but had no problem with D guard. The defining characteristic was material in between each finger. Most of the guys running things were retired RCMP, but sometimes they don't have all the answers. I have been toying with an D guard bowie idea so I hope it is not prohibited.

I will see if I can draw up something to add to Rob's sketch, just to add to the confusion. :)

I say just pick. I'll be happy learning to do any style of knife.

I'm good with whatever happens. Currently I am busier in the shop than I ever thought I would be so the sooner we can get a start the better. I'm thinking either some type of large knife, in the Bowie/chopper theme would be cool. Or even a small edc or friction folder. Just no fillet knives lol. Blades that thin make me go even more bald haha.

Icho I thought the poll would be a good idea too but actually the opposite, we have about a dozen ideas and the same in makers so there's a good chance it wouldn't be an overwhelming majority vote and just 1's and 2's for each............I have however had a few random emails and pm's indicating something Viking would be interesting........

That's cool, if we just went Viking theme that leaves lots of freedom for variations in styles. Could be pretty awesome
