Hey everyone. Look forward to reading all there is and learning more and more to enhance my skill set.

I started dabbling with knife making a few years ago. Bought a few cheapo blanks from Amazon and made the handles. Then found Jantz and did a few of their offerings. Read and learned more and tried creating a few blanks from O1 steel with nominal success. (the heat treating was the challenge). Got sidetracked with life and other projects (furniture making) but am ready to get back into it. I still do the odd handle from time to time to use up the blanks i purchased but want to start making knives proper.

Sooo, thanks for the letting me join and i look forward to your knowledge, critizisms and encouragements.

    Regards,

    Jason

Welcome. We can offer help when it comes to getting you over the heat-treat, or any other hurdle you run into. If you've got questions, we've got suggestions that might work -- most of the time.:)

    Thanks guys.
I have spent the morning reviewing all the different threads and have already found a ton of useful information.
    Grinders
    Heat treating
    steel
    etching
All things that i had started searching when i started some years ago. All in one place.
First things first - dump these premade blade left overs, use cash for the Grinder build on here, and start grinding.
I'm really excited to get back into this.

Welcome Jason. Nice to have new members. You're already finding how great this forum is, that's cool. I couldn't believe (still can't) how helpful these people are. And they're super nice too - always willing to help out a noob (I still consider myself a noob - esp. after somebody posts their latest work pics : )

Welcome to the forum. We have a bunch of great people on here that are really knowledgeable. Plus they make really pretty knives to salivate over.
