I haven't had any issues with the Imperial stuff. But the truth be said, I have only about one full tank of propane gone through it.

Good to know. You watered it down pretty good when you put it on originally?

It was very thick in the can. I added water until about toothpaste consistency.

My forge is holding up great. I applied two thin coats of the SUPER 3000 over the wool and have had no problems.
I apply borax inside my forge so the lining can really take a beating from the borax. This is the second year since the forge was rebuilt and it is working great.
FYI, borax will eat hard firebrick, spend the money buy the SUPER 3000 and make the floor out of it.

Thanks Dan and Forge, how does the Imperial High Temp stuff hold up to Borax? I ask because I have it on hand already and shipping tends to kill me out here for anything I have to order. Where do you get your Super 3000 from?

    Call this fellow
    Hi Forge,

So here is the email of the guy that I dealt with at Vesuvius for a few years. I believe he is still working for them, but I can't guarantee it.
His name is Mike Quinn and he was always great to deal with and is very knowledgeable about refractories, even non Vesuvius brands.
mike.quinn@ca.vesuvius.com and if he doesn't get back to here's his phone number
    tel:905-512-8261
Let me know how it goes.
    Cheers

CERAMIC TILE IS NOT GOING TO WORK.
You have to coat the wool with a product like Vesuvius SUPER 3000.

I don't see ceramic tile doing much for your forge. It isn't made to take that sort of heat, nor will it reflect the heat well.
